Over 800 visitors enjoyed an exciting day of arts and crafts, cool deals and bear giveaways with the Prize Wheel. The annual event is sponsored by Gund, Bears & More, the Historic Downtown Business Community and the Glendale Office of Tourism.

It turns out that there are two days devoted to the little furry guys. “Teddy Bear Day” is celebrated on September 9, while “National Teddy Bear Day” is November 14.

US Weekly’s Hot Bodies event was already using the Prize Wheel to heat up the summer in 2009.

The event, held poolside at Tao Beach in Las Vegas, had Mel B (Spice Girls) serving as host and a slew of sponsors.

According to BizBash,

Massage therapists were on hand for head, neck, and back massages, and water-filled misters from sponsor Air Optix Aqua allowed guests to cool off with a sprtiz. Models wearing summer outfits from Old Navy encouraged guests to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win purple Us Weekly beach towels, Old Navy flip flops, Sonic gift cards, and tickets for “Peepshow.” A branded Skinny Cow ice cream cart offered frozen treats on the hot day in the desert. And a hosted bar offered MGD 64 beer—a beer marketed for its low calorie content.

CP Federal Credit Union uses a variety of tools, including the Prize Wheel, to teach students about money. Play coins are given to spinners who must count the correct amount of change in order to win a prize.

Kelly Hatler, a credit union development educator and federal financial-education specialist for the credit union said,

It’s very important to start early and start young. Our savings programs don’t revolve around a dollar amount. What we want is to establish the habit of saving.

The Prize Wheel made it to New York’s Comic Con.

New York Comic Con ran earlier this month from October 11-14, and included the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies and television.

The Oyster Festival is held each October in Oyster Bay, New York.
